What is included

Every trade. One team.

A fireplace is masonry, a flue and a foundation, and each one has to be right for it to last.

Our ten-step process, condensed

From first meeting to walkthrough.

  1. Stone outdoor fireplace with a wood fire

    Site and setbacks

We check the patio, the distance from the house and fences, and where a chimney or gas line can go.

  2. Hands comparing stone and tile samples over a plan

    Design and selections

Style, stone, hearth height, fuel type and the surrounding patio are chosen, and drawings go to the HOA and city where needed.

  3. Covered patio with a stone fireplace and outdoor seating

    Footing and masonry

The footing cures first, then the masons build the box, flue and facing while the plumber runs gas if it applies.

  4. New cedar deck behind a brick home

    First fire and warranty

We light it with you, confirm the draw and the gas shutoff, and put the warranty in writing.

Questions

Before you call.

Wood-burning or gas?
Wood gives you the real fire and the smell, gas gives you instant on and off with no cleanup. Many homeowners choose a wood-burning fireplace with a gas log lighter so they have both.
How far from the house does it need to be?
Setbacks depend on the city and on whether it burns wood or gas, and a built fireplace can often sit closer than an open fire pit. We confirm the rule for your address before we design.
Will a fireplace crack the patio slab?
Not if it has its own footing. Fireplaces are heavy, so we pour a reinforced footing separate from the patio, which is what keeps the structure straight in clay soil.
Does an outdoor fireplace need HOA approval?
In most master-planned communities, yes, since it is a visible structure. We prepare the drawings and the material list for the submittal.
